After a lovely half term holiday the children were excited to tell us all about their Hallowe’en costumes and parties. Thank you to all those parents who have submitted photos and comments to your child’s e-Learning Journey!
If you have photos of your child to share please email them to email@example.com using your registered email address (ask a member of staff for help if you’re not sure how to do it).
This week the children have been learning about the changes that happen in Autumn. They have been out and about on nature walks looking for leaves and talking about the different colours and parts of each leaf.
We have also read stories with an Autumn theme.
Our first topic has been ‘All About Me’ and we have been learning all about ourselves and each other. This has included learning about our birthdays and how we celebrate them we loved learning about Mr Tumbles birthday! We have also talked about who is special in our house and our families. We have painted our faces and made self portraits using mirrors to help us to identify our features and these have been displayed on our ‘Nursery Tree’.
We have enjoyed lots of stories the most popular being ‘Dear Zoo’ which all the children have loved! So much so we painted a life size lion and he lives in our reading area!
We have found out how to keep our bodies healthy and we have been doing lots of running in PE, climbing outside and exploring our senses to help us in all other areas of learning. We have enjoyed listening to lots of songs, nursery rhymes and music and have been doing some brilliant dance moves too! We cannot wait to see what Mr Riding, Miss Higson and Mrs Islam have in store for next half term!
This half term in Preschool we have had lots of fun getting messy, exploring and experimenting with shaving foam, glue and paint.
We have been learning all about monsters, creating monster puppets, sharing monster stories and singing monster songs.
The children have thoroughly enjoyed our Autumn Topic and have took part in an autumn walk collecting leaves, pine cones and conkers. We have made various autumn pictures including leaf men, leaf printing and leaf rings and the children have learnt a fabulous autumn song.
This half term we have been learning lots of new things. We have been talking about ourselves and we brought our favourite books into school to share. We have been learning to hear and write sounds in words. We are practising counting and made play dough cakes with candles for Lola the Leopard on her birthday!
The ‘Take a Hint’ theatre group came into school today to perform for all our children in the Early Years. They performed three traditional tales – Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Billy Goats Gruff. Each story had a song for us to learn and lots of links to the Maths we have been learning in class. We found some shapes for Goldilocks, helped the Billy Goats to remember the days of the week and cheered when the Woodcutter caught the Big Bad Wolf! Hooray!
Through the blog we can share with you all the exciting things that the children get up to at St Mary’s EYFS!
We will be updating the blog regularly, so please keep checking to see what we have been doing and also to keep up to date with any news and events.
Please feel free to leave comments to support our class.
